In order to do a full backup of the 3f Software Planner, you must backup the database and all the files uploaded to the system at the same time. Making two backups, one for the database and one for the files, ensures that you will be able to restore the system 100%.

In this example, we used the built-in file backup tool that comes with  Windows 2003 Server. The files are backed up to a hard drive. We strongly recommend that you copy the backed up files (database file and uploaded files) to a CD, DVD, or other media for added security in case of hard disk failure.

1. Start the 3f Software Planner database utility

2. Enter password

Enter your system administrator password (SA), then press "Next". By default, the system administrator password is 123 unless you have changed it.

3. Choose Procedure

Choose "Backup Database" from the combo box, then enter the Backup To and File Name fields before clicking "Backup Database".

4. Backup Database

Click this button to start backing up the database.

5. Backup complete

When the database has been successfully backed up, this message box appears.

Note: The database server cannot backup to a remote computer. The backup path must be a local path in the database server.

6. Backup files

After you have backed up your database, you should backup the files uploaded to the 3f Software Planner. This can be done with a tool such as the backup utility in your OS. Start the backup tool.

7. Choose the files

Choose the folder wherein the uploaded files are located.

(i.e. C:\3f Software Planner 2006\IPlan\pages\3fUploadDownload). Check the checkbox next to the folder in the backup tool. Double check that all folders and files below are included in the backup.

8.  Backup complete

When the backup is complete, this window will appear. Click "Close".
