Topic
If you have your
program and database on different servers you will have to "Point" the
program server to the database server. This is done using the "Change
Database Connection" tool that comes with 3f Software Planner.
Pre-requisites
The sever where
you will be moving the database to (the destination) must have either MSDE
2000 SP3 or Microsoft SQL server 2000 installed. MSDE 2000 database engine
works fine with 15 - 25 concurrent user depending on usage.

1. Start Change
Database Connection Tool
Start the "Change Database Connection"
found in the 3f Software Planner program
group. First you identify the "Target
Database" server which is where the 3f
Software Planner database you want your
server to us is located.
Tip: If you
cannot see the target server then you may have a firewall (software or
hardware) preventing you. Close this program, turn off the firewall, then
try again.
2. Warning
Message(s)
Depending your
particular situation you will receive warning messages. If you are
pointing to a database which is being used by a registered version of 3f
Software Planner you will be warned and asked if you are sure that you
want to point your program server to, and use this database.
While you most
likely want to do it, it is important to understand that if you continue
the server that used this database until now will no longer be able to use
it!
In addition, you
are warned that a new registration key is required and how this key is
obtained. To see the steps needed to obtain a new registration key

After pressing
"Yes" on the previous screen you
may be presented with a warning message if the database you are
pointing to is of a lower version than the 3f Software Planner. If you
press "Yes" the database structure will automatically be updated to the
same version as the 3f Software Planner. If the database is updated it
cannot be "downgraded" again!
When the system
has finished updating the database (if necessary) and changed the
necessary settings you will be presented with the message below. When you
start the 3f Software Planner it will be using the database you pointed
to.
