On July 23, 2005 the latest version of the 3f Software Planner was released for hosting. An update for customers hosting themselves will be released in the beginning of August.

 

New features

With this latest release we have addressed several issues raised by customers from all over the world.

 

3f Software Planner is now modular

3f Software Planner has been changed so

that 4 individual modules now makes up the

entire application.  The modules are:  Base module, Gantt diagram and Planning, Approval Management, Test Management and finally XML export.  (The latter is free of charge and added automatically when all other models have been added).

 

Viewing tasks particulars in Active Tasks

Two new icon's have been added on the active task page, one next to project tasks and one next to none project tasks.  When the icon is clicked, a new form pop up where the user can read the task details.

 

Other new features

In addition to the major updates, we have also made a few minor update as listed below.

 

Export of task list (template)

You can now save the template you create on your local computer as oppose to saving it on the hosting server. The same goes for exporting of issues and test cases.

 

Export of test cases

This module lets you export test cases, or individual test questions for import into another system or a different project.

 

Pricing

By making the software module, the pricing has changed slightly.  The data module costs US$49 per license, and individual modules costs US$17 per license.

 

3f Software Planner Modules

 

Base module (Requirement for all other modules)

The base module has all the tools you need in order to setup projects, plan tasks, track time and manage issues in a project.  There is no limit to the number up projects you can setup, and there is no limit to the number of tasks you can have in a project.

 

Optional modules

The modules listed below can be added to the base model independently of each other.  If  hosting service is used, modules are activated independently of each other in the Account Management area.

 

Gantt diagram and Planning

This module add Gantt diagram and Planning to the system.  With this module you will be able to plan your project in a Gantt diagram and schedule resources from within the Gantt diagram.

 

Approval Management

This module adds three user roles as well as approval management workflow.  Adding this module allows you to create user accounts with user roles that prevents access to the entire system.  In addition you can also use this module to enforce task and timesheet approval in your company.

 

Test Management

This module gives you the tools necessary to manage product testing.  With this module you will be able to setup test procedures for your products, manage the actual test phase and track the test results.

 

XML export

This module lets you exporter virtually all the data in the system as XML files. The XML module is free of charge and is automatically added when all other modules have been added.

 

What is coming up next?

In the next release of the 3f Software Planner a new very exciting report will be included.  This report lets you combine multiple projects together into a a drill down report. Using this feature lets you combine different projects and view a summary of all the hours worked on the projects by all the resources (billable and non billable hours). This report can be very useful if you work on multiple projects for one or more clients, and you want to see an overview where all the projects are summarized. The report will be made so that you decide which project to include in the report. Stay tuned!
